One Sanford, Florida police officer Andrew Ricks was let go from his job after jumping on stage with death metal band Vital Remains and screaming the intro lyrics to one of the band’s most famous songs “Let The Killing Begin/Dechristianize.” Earlier in this week the video was shared all over the internet and one individual sent the video to Ricks’ commanding officer who was not very happy at all and stripped Ricks’ of his badge and gun. Cecil Smith the commanding officer of Sanford released this statement which can be seen below.
“An incident of this nature erodes the thin fibers of trust which already exist between the community and the police, and it will not be tolerated within the Sanford Police Department”
“It is imperative that we have no misrepresentations of the immediate actions taken by the police department in situations of this nature and that we will continue to professional service to all citizens of Sanford.”
Andrew Ricks was an officer of six year tenure and it was the first time he had ever gotten in “trouble.” concienditally Ricks’ had sent in a letter of resignation to take place today on the 20th of November but instead was relieved on November 17th. Vital Remains frontman Brian Werner had a statement when he found out about Ricks’ and said “This is exactly what is wrong with the world today.”
