Lists & Features

2015 is coming to an end so it’s about time to look back at all of the fantastic music we got from the metal side this year. Keep in mind, this article is completely opinion based, and we would love to see what you guys think should've made this list or if you agree with it in the comment section. Here’s what I believe belongs in the top five for the year.

  1. Got Your Six by Five Finger Death Punch
Five Finger Death Punch’s album “Got Your Six” which was released on September 4th makes the top of my list for this year. “Got Your Six” was a spectacular example of an album that can pull off the heavier side of groove metal and have a few tracks that show off how perfectly vocalist Ivan Moody’s clean vocals really are on other tracks. Death Punch unleashed a killer amount of awesome guitar solos and a few really nice drum lines as well as the lyrical amount of the album with tracks like ‘Boots and Blood’, ‘Ain’t My Last Dance’, and ‘Digging My Own Grave’

2. Self Titled by Being As An Ocean
Being As An Ocean snagged the number two spot on my list with their self titled album that released on June 30th. Vocalists Joel Quartuccio & Michael McGough provide the perfect combination of clean and heavy vocals while Joel provides the perfect amount of emotion, it’s like if you were at a poetry slam but it was a hardcore music poetry slam. Being As An Ocean is one of those bands that’s never disappointed with an album and they have a stage presence unlike anyone else. If you’ve never heard of these guys or have but have been debating picking this album up, do yourself a favor and make the purchase. ‘Sins of the Father’ and ‘Ain’t Nobody Perfect’ makes this album worth every single cent.

3.The Unconquerable Dark by Black Tongue
Black Tongue a down tempo doom metal band from England grabbed the number 3 spot on this list from me with their new album “The Unconquerable Dark.” TUD for short, has nine songs and all of which are hits for the band. I personally never picked up any of their older music and was always told to never even give it a shot, when TUD released on September 4th alongside FFDP’s album that landed at number one I had to give it a shot. I fell in love, from the fact that two of the people in Black Tongue were formerly members of the band Infant Annihilator (Aaron Kitcher/Eddie Pickard), the vocalist Alex Teyen will crush your skull with his amazing vocal work, and all of the features from artists like Eddie Hermida (Suicide Silence/All Shall Perish)& CJ Mcmahon (Thy Art is Murder) makes this album one of the many that you will regret if you don’t listen to.
My Top 3 can be purchased on iTunes or streamed on Spotify today, what albums do you guys believe these albums hold up as the top 3 or what do you think should have made the list, please remember in fact this is completely opinion based.
Stay Metal my friends.
