Curator Notes

Wild 9 is a PlayStation platformer from the same Shiny Entertainment and Interplay circle that had already shaped mid-nineties console action elsewhere. On this shelf it stands apart from the Sony-published RPG line and from the licensed shooters already filed — a third-party action object whose hook is the Rig, not a gunslinger motif or a survival-horror town. The filing is not an argument that the game was widely remembered. It is custody of a pressed Interplay release from 1998, when the Original PlayStation catalog was dense enough that distinctive platformers could vanish into the secondary market without leaving a digital fallback on this hardware. Kept with the closing Original PlayStation group, Wild 9 widens what the platform collection can show: not only first-party RPGs and survival horror, but the stranger third-party action discs that shared the same black-disc retail channel.
